Cocoa
We fell in love with her and decided to keep her. She is now Anna Bear!
Cocoa is a mid sized lovely chocolately brown girl.
She's a real sweetheart and one of the quieter puppies, with a little less interest in having battles with her siblings. She loves to play with her toys.
Cocoa's Puppy Aptitude Test results are now available: Cocoa's results echoed our daily observations that Cocoa is a quiet, low energy puppy. She was a little shy of the strange tester. She came to her initially with some hesitation but didn't want to follow her when asked. She had no problem with being dominated during the restraint and elevation tests and during the social dominance test, she cuddled up to the tester. This echoes our observation that she is not a dominate puppy, who doesn't care much if her siblings dominate her. She's an easygoing little girl who is very affectionate. She had no issues with touch, sight or sound sensitivity. She showed no fear of a loud noise or a large umbrella and didn't bother to get up to investigate either one. She also showed no interest in retrieving or a turkey feather. Her preference for people over activity is well illustrated by the photo in her album where she is looking at the tester, rather than the crumpled paper when asked to retrieve. She showed moderate food motivation. Cocoa would be an ideal puppy for someone who wants a standard poodle who won't require as much exercise and activity. She would be a wonderful match for an older person, a less active family with children, or anyone who wants a best friend and companion who will be happy just to be with their family.
She is completely trained to use a doggy door and takes herself outside to an enclosed area to go potty. She is leash trained and goes for walks in the forest with us. She has learned to shake hands and the command "down" and she is also learning how to do puppy puzzles.
We completed Early Neurological stimulation (ENS) and Early Scent Introduction (ESI) on Day 16. You can see a photo in the gallery of Cocoa sniffing cinnamon. She showed the most interest in cinnamon and also peanut butter. Other scents she particularly enjoyed are cloves, lemon, pansy, clover and a chicken feather.
